The department is hosting a cohort of six students from Chiang Mai University, Thailand. The students will study research methods (AGED 5983) and a special problems course for 8 weeks while in Stillwater this summer.
The agreement between OSU and Chiang Mai University calls for 5 groups of students to visit OSU from 2007 to 2012. The students will earn their Ph.D. from Chiang Mai University, and will receive support from Dr. Kathleen Kelsey regarding research design. Dr. Kelsey is scheduled to visit Thailand in December to visit the students and consult with them on their dissertation research.
The Thailand students have visited several agricultural operations in Oklahoma, including (sites from the Access Tour) and plan to visit more sites in June. The students will continue to explore the United States and have planned a driving tour from Oklahoma to California at the end of their stay. They will visit several agricultural operations in California, including the Kingsburg Citrus Ranch, owned and operated by Mr. Bruce Kelsey. The students will return to Thailand July 22.
